St Catherine's Court - House Details

The Master Suite.  Very large and spacious room with wonderful views to the east and west; two bay windows with window seats overlooking the formal gardens with a vista of boxed yew, lavender boarders and the woodland walk beyond.   The half tester bed, fit for a king, is dressed in fabric by a small English company called Blithfield & Co.   The printed linen in watery pinks and greens creates a light flowery look reminiscent of a painting by Monet.  There is a large seating area with comfortable sofas, ottoman and marble fireplace; deep-pile cream carpeting throughout.

Ensuite bathroom: feminine, elegant bathroom in creamy smooth natural limestone with free-standing roll-top bath, stone mullion window with window seat that overlooks the valley. The suite also comprises a walk-in limestone wet room with powerful body jets; there is a separate lavatory.

Oak – Bed draped to the contours of the quirky ceiling. Rich autumnal colours - russet and chartreuse silks, velvets and tweeds. Small inner hall between bedroom and bathroom.   

Shares bathroom with Chestnut. Access to the sitting area via bathroom and Chestnut           

Chestnut – Spacious room with half Tester bed draped in old gold and russet Jacobean style fabric.  Double mullion windows look out over the rear gardens.  Large arched French window doors to the Tapestry Landing.   The large luxurious mocha limestone bathroom has a deep roll-top bath with full length curtains for overhead shower. There is abundant space for towels and bathing treats.

It is possible for these two rooms (Oak and Chestnut) to share the bathroom and offer privacy by closing off strategic doors.  This complex could then be a luxury twin or a Family Room. It also benefits from a large, light and airy sitting area – The Tapestry Landing - off from Chestnut

The Tapestry Landing - A large sky lit, airy seating area which can be accessed from Wordsworth.  A perfect area for peace and quiet, with good light for reading, study or contemplation.  The sofa converts to a bed.

Blanchard – Oak Panelled walls; wood floor with rugs; large original fireplace and double aspect mullioned windows. Half-tester bed dressed in rich green velvet overlaid in gold. Has large sitting room – shares bathroom with Austen by separate landing entrance.

Austen - beautiful Duck Egg Blue panelled room with embroidered silk drapes and half-tester bed, deep pile cream carpet and original stone fireplace. Steps to spacious ensuite or shared (with Blanchard) full bathroom with shower. 

It is possible for these two rooms (Blanchard and Austen) to share a bathroom and offer privacy by closing off strategic doors. This complex could then be a Luxury Twin or a Family Room.

Tudor Rose Wonderful four-poster bed with deep rose pink brocade drapes affords a feeling of grandeur. The deep-set panelled mullion windows look out towards the Church and across to the distant hills. Cosy seating area. Opens on to the Oriel.  Shares bathroom with Iris/Rosebud. 

The Oriel - This tranquil oak panelled seating area is furnished with comfortable old leather chairs and sofas.  The mullioned and stain glassed window looks out in three directions, up towards the plunge pool and Italianate gardens, across to the Church and down towards the valley.

Iris –The canopied bed is decorated with silk embroidered irises on cream linen. There is a lovely mix of checks, silks and velvets in soft lavender colours.  Shared bathroom with Tudor Rose and Rosebud. 

Rosebud - Compact, yet cosy room in hues of Champagne pink silk candy stripe with embroidered rosebuds. Shares bathroom with Tudor Rose and Iris.  The large Romanesque limestone bathroom has a deep bath and spacious walk in shower.  The deep recessed mullion window looks out over the courtyard.

Mulberry  – Situated on the Top Floor.  An enchantingly cosy room with a half tester bed draped in rich mulberry red velvets, rib boned silks and wool paisleys.  Shares bathroom with Magnolia.           

Magnolia.  A Cheerful and welcoming room with Green twigged fabric, soft terracotta silks, velvets and checks. Opens out to a private large sitting room/playroom with a fabulous terrace overlooking the church and estate entrance.  Shares bathroom with Mulberry .   The large celadon green and charcoal grey limestone bathroom has both bath and separate walk-in shower. 

It is possible for these two rooms to share the bathroom and offer privacy by closing off strategic doors.  This complex could then be a Luxury twin or a Family Room. 

Upstairs Sitting Room/Playroom - A large private, comfortable sitting room with fabulous mullion terrace French windows overlooking the Church, Estate entrance and rolling hills beyond.  A wonderful place to relax, read a book, play chess or even play video games!  Writing desk, comfortable sofas – one of which is a sofa bed size. 

The Red Room – situated on the ground floor close to the kitchen.  Rich strong colours in deep reds and blue.  Ensuite shower, loo and hand-basin.

The Harrington Suite  – Access from outside the House close to the Laundry.  Two bedrooms and one bathroom bath and overhead shower 

Breakdown:  13 bedrooms – 10 doubles, one single and one two-bedded suite

Total of 7 bathrooms:  4 x ensuite and 3 shared or 3 ensuite and 4 luxury twins/family rooms

Additional Accommodation in the Lodge:

North Wing:  2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. 

South Wing:  Master Suite with sitting area and ensuite. 

I ensuite bedroom with 5 foot bed.  One room with 5 foot bed with separate wet room and loo. 

Total of 5 double bedrooms and 4 bathrooms

General Information:

 All the bedrooms have ample storage, hanging and drawer space.  Choice of seating – sofas and/or chairs. Bathrobes.  All bedrooms are fitted with the latest plasma televisions on satellite, DVD players and wireless network.   All the Bathrooms are in natural stone with under-floor heating.  Power Showers Stacks of towels The finest Spa Products, including: Decanters of bath and shower gel, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner Choice of loafers, sponges Pumice and back brushes Shower Caps Cotton balls.

The Aga Kitchen

This is an extremely well equipped farmhouse family kitchen with  a large Aga, breakfast table and chairs for 8 adjacent to the Breakfast room with a table to seat 10. 

The house is fully staffed with domestic help and a resident chef for morning and evening meals  

The Library

The beautiful mid oak panelling; original open fireplace; large windows with deep window seats with lots of cushions; fabulous views and stunning rich drapes make it special.  Gorgeous backdrop of colour for the old books the faded wool curtains in old rose and chartreuse and faded velvet sofas. 

The Inner Hall

A cosy, warm, inviting comfortable room.  A quiet place to read or play board games. 

The Grand Hall

An inviting location for afternoon tea in the winter in front of a roaring fire.  A focal point for pre dinner drinks before being seated in the formal dining room, lit totally by candle-light.  

The Regency Ballroom

An amazing formal but invitingly comfortable room.  A glamorous room where the whole family can eat, sit, read, make merry with music and song and when the furniture is moved turn it back into a ballroom for parties
